Green Monsters

So I’m currently on the green monster craze. I blame half the blogging world for getting me into it, but man they are good. Fresh. Light. Perfect to start the day.

Usually I drink them straight out of the container of my Magic Bullet, but sometimes I can be classy. Wine glass = classy, right?

This is my typical, go-to green monster since I have this stuff on hand at any given moment.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup non-dairy milk
  • 1/2 of a banana
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed
  • 1/4 cup frozen berries
  • 1 small piece of fresh ginger

Preparation

  1. Put it all into a blender.
  2. Blend.

It’s rocket science, I know.

  • Hi Hoot,

I love your blog and I decided to try the Green Monster. I’ve been knowing about it for a while, but your blog entry convinced me that I should try it. I made my first one this morning using your recipe and it was delicious. I’m giving myself a challenge which is I’m going to see how many days I can last without coffee and substitute that with green monster. You also inspire me to write a blog about my cooking, baking, and such. It won’t be as good as yours, but it will be nice to have something of my own. Thank you for inspiring me :). You rawk!

    • Thanks, Olivia! That really means a lot.

I think it’s great that you’re giving this a shot. They’re so customizable [I’m currently adding a couple tablespoons of soy yogurt + the amazing grass chocolate powder + frozen spinach]. I love them. I still don’t rule out my caffeine intake, but you could always switch to tea if you think you need the caffeine w/o all the coffee.

And you should TOTALLY get on the blogging train. It’s fun, if only for yourself to see what you’ve done.
